Cali likes to watch Baby Einstein when she first wakes up in the morning. I don't mind because it gives me a chance to eat my cereal and try to feed her something (she doesn't like to eat breakfast, usually). Lately I've been finding myself singing the songs throughout the day or thinking about a particular scene in a show.
My sister-in-law Kayte gave us a box set of the DVD's, so thankfully I don't have to watch one too often (although Wordsworth and Doolittle are her favorite because she can sign the animals). But I've been getting annoyed lately that I don't know the names of all the puppets. I know it sounds totally lame, but not knowing and not being able to find a list of the puppets names online has got my panties in a twist. I know the cow is McDonald, the kangaroo is Galileo, the goat is Vincent Van Goat, the sea turtle is Neptune, the giraffe is Beethoven, the monkey is Jane, the dog is Pavlov, the Lion is Newton, the dragon is Bard, the reindeer is Santa, the cat is Wordsworth...but I think that's all I know. I don't know the duck's name or the frog's name...but it really doesn't matter.
Now, I know how some people feel about Baby Einstein videos, but we like them. I didn't have her start watching them until she was a year and I think it's really fun to watch her learn the signs for different things and I think she's picked up on it better since watching the series.
That's all for now...
http://www.baby-einstein.net/category/baby-einstein-puppets/ has some of the puppets with their names.

Hi Amy. I wish I had started my baby out on BE. It is memorizing indeed. Cali is going to be (maybe already is) brilliant!
Just dropping by to say you've won the logophilia print from my free for all giveaway.Do you mind emailing me at cjanemail@gmail.com with an address?
Grape Nuts indeed.
I meant mesmerizing, not memorizing. Golly it is early.
I didn't even know those puppets had names. I usually let Lilly watch some kind of show in the morning so I can take a shower in peace, but it is usually something on PBS Kids.
