In one of my moods...

My little world got rocked last week. So, since I've lost control over a lot of things and am still very uncertain how it's going to get better, I'm getting up on my little soapbox about things that get my panties in a twist. (Holy run-on sentence, Batman!) Mainly, my parenting style.
Sean and I practice what's called "attachment parenting." It's basically just doing what my instincts tell me to do. Hold my baby as much as I want, feed as often as they want, sleep with them close-by, don't let them have a reason to cry.
Because Cali wasn't (and still isn't) a great sleeper, I keep looking back and thinking it was miserable having her as a baby. But it really wasn't. She was a happy-go-lucky baby. She hardly cried and was generally easy. Rose is the same way. Despite her reflux, she is a fat and happy baby.
Now, I'm not trying to say that my way of parenting is for everybody. We're doing what we think is right for our family. I view it the same way I view my religion: I'm doing what I believe to be right for me and my family is the long (eternal) run. What works for me doesn't necessarily mean it's going to work for you (general).
For example, my sister Ashley and I have very different parenting styles. They're pretty much opposite of each other's. But, our kids (ie: Cali and Wyatt) are both happy and healthy. They get along well and are well adjusted.
So, if I get up onto my soapbox one of these days as to why we co-sleep, delay solids, extend breastfeeding, and postpone vaccines-you have been warned. It's mostly for me to be able to release some stress I've been feeling about not being understood.
