This week some friends of mine (Rachel, Esther, and their husbands) are celebrating their 3 year anniversaries. My sister Ashley's due date is her 3 year anniversary. This got me thinking-on my 3 year anniversary, we will be celebrating it with a 2-year-old and a six-month-old. How did I figure that out? Let me explain.
Sean and I did not wait to start trying to get pregnant after we got married (the tradition, it seems, is to wait at least a year before starting to try). Honestly, I thought I'd have a tough time getting pregnant (I'm not exactly what you'd call "regular"-if you know what I mean), but it turns out that the tough time is DURING the pregnancy. Fun for me.
Anyway, so our little girl is due to be b0rn 11 days before our one year anniversary. Since my pregnancies are so difficult, we're going to allow 9 months for recovery (physically and mentally) before starting to try to get pregnant with baby #2. We figure that if I end up going through the 20 weeks of constant puking, like I did this time, the baby will still be little enough for me to put on the bed next to me while I watch movies and be sick. That way I won't have to run around, chasing a toddler, tossing my cookies along the way.
Also, we have a friend who's mom had HG with all 3 of her pregnancies, and she remembers her mom laying on the couch when she was 3-years-old and wanting to play with her, but her mom was too sick to do anything. I really don't want our little girl to have any memories of me being sick and ignoring her. But, if I am as sick with baby #2 as I am with this one, then we will not have any more children naturally.
In conclusion, on September 14th, 2010, I don't think Sean and I will be doing anything super exciting for our 3 year anniversary. I wish my friends who celebrated their's this week a happy anniversary. :)

Thank you so much for the anniversary wishes!
It sounds like you've thought things through pretty well (just cross your fingers that everything goes according to plan). We actually planned on getting pregnant as soon as we were married. I figured I'd get pregnant really easily; instead, it took us a whole year. But things worked out for the best in every respect and I was able to learn some patience in the meantime. :)
Hey... I don't mean to rain on your thinking but I have to say something about your logic. If you wait and end up getting pregnant right at 9 months after your first baby you are still going to have your hands full, and possibly will still have to chase a baby around. My baby (James) is 8 months old right now and starting to crawl... I don't get to sit that often. Three of my friends who have babies the same age have been chasing their crawling babies since 6 1/2 months (Maybe you should try a little sooner!) babies even at 8-9 months want to be moving and playing and learning , they get board just sitting. I also want to point out that 2 of my friends kids started walking at 7 months. If you were sick for a solid 20 weeks you will most definitely have a baby on the move (20 weeks = 5 months) that would be 9+5=14 month old baby which = walking for sure.
Sorry... Just food for thought
Thanks for the anniversary wishes too!!! The Lord will bless you and Sean and your little baby will know you love her no matter what.
just some food for thought... my little girl was fully walking at age 9 months. To the day in fact.... and was crawling around the whole house at 5 months...its still hard
