Sometimes I do things that piss people off...

As my child lays in my bed going on her third hour of sleep (I probably should be napping with her, I'm tired too), I was thinking about how blessed I am that she naps and that she sleeps fairly well during the night. Of course, this was after another night where we were up until 2 AM "playing." How can you ignore a happy baby, even at one in the morning?
Anyway, I was thinking about how much she has changed in her 8 weeks of life and about how much I've changed in that time. Things are a little easier now. Sure, sometimes I still tear up when I'm driving and she starts crying. Sometimes I'd rather be sleeping then playing at one in the morning. But, for a large part, I think "Hey, I may not be screwing up as bad as I thought I was." I may not do things like other people do, but everyone is different and every baby is different.
For example, Cali sleeps in the bed with Sean and I. It's what works for us. She also doesn't use a pacifier, won't get vaccinated on the schedule the doctor's given us, I pick her up whenever she's crying (unless I'm driving, of course), she showers with me (and LOVES it!!), and I feed her whenever she's hungry. Apparently, some of those things are unconventional. But, it works for us. And if that means that I have to "deal" with a happy, smiliey baby...that's what I'm going to have to live with, I guess.

I don't think any of that is unconventional. I know couples who have their baby sleep with them. And keeping your baby happy is important.

Yeah, Rebekah slept with us for a long time, it worked for us too. I found criticism to how we raise our kid a very frustrating thing too, especially with family members giving me crap about what I do or do not feed my child. She's my child and I can raise her the best way I know possible, right? It is good for everyone to remember that you do what you thinks is best for your child, and also that what others do is not to in any way to harm your child either. They mean well, but sometimes all you want is space.

I know this is really late....but hey, I just saw this.
I think that YOU and Sean are the parents and you need to do what's best for YOUR family. Who cares what the doctors want and what other people say. I would love to meet the perfect parent other than God...there isn't one
