Little blessings

My car needed new brakes. Actually, it's needed new brakes for a while, but money is tight. I tried to not drive so I could avoid hearing the grinding noise from me stepping on the brakes. But, sometimes I just had to get out of the house-ya know?
Anyway, today, after Sean got off work, we decided we'd go for a ride. We took the car, instead of the truck (which we usually use). All of a sudden, right by a gas station, there's this loud noise and the car won't stop. Sean pulls on the emergency brake and we pull into the parking lot of the gas station. Sean gets out and looks under the car. By the driver's side tire, there was a warped and bare brake pad on the ground. We were very lucky that we made it safely. Turns out the cylinder was rubbing against the brake pad and now it's warped in place and messing up the disc. Oh fun.
4 hours and a tow later, the car now sits in front of my parents house. A big THANK YOU goes out to my mother-in-law for renewing our AAA membership so we didn't have to stress about the car getting towed to an impound lot while it sat in the parking lot.
Life just keeps handing out financially stressful surprizes.
P.S. Another THANK YOU for my dad putting in the hours of work with Sean trying figure out what was wrong, for picking us up, and for buying the new brake pads. Couldn't have done it without you.
