Birth date

Since the doctor pushed the due date back to April first, I've really been thinking about how my labor went last time and how I want it to be this time.
The day before I had Cali, I went and saw my doctor. I was 39 Weeks 6 days. I was huge and uncomfortable and done being pregnant. I had gained back 30 of the 35 lbs I had lost and was ready to get this baby out of me.
When the doctor did the ultrasound to make sure she wasn't breached, he said to me, "Wow! She's a big baby. Do you want to be done?" Suddenly the clouds parted and I saw a light at the end of the tunnel. I agreed, let's get her out of here. So he had me head up to the hospital to start getting the paper work done and get labor started.
After all the goodies of getting labor started (petocin, epidural, thinning my cervix, etc), Cali was born almost 24 hours after my appointment.
I'm not sure how I want to do it this time. Theoretically, I would love to have a midwife and give birth in a birthing center with no drugs and no timeline. But, that's not happening.
I have larger babies. No, Cali was not 15 lbs or anything crazy like that, just 8-14. But that's become rather big by today's standards. I'm assuming this one is going to be around 9 lbs. (Sean was 10 lbs and I was 8lbs) Cali had a giant head and I had to get an episiotomy. That was no fun.
Since I had an epideral, but it wore off before I started pushing, I think I could do it with no drugs. I know it's supposed to be best for the baby. But, I've come to the realization that I'm not super woman.
In my mind, the image of "super woman" is the one who births her babies without drugs, uses cloth diapers, homeschools her kids, her house is always clean, has 4 or more kids, teaches her kids to read before they're five, and doesn't let her kids watch more than an hour of tv.
I am not that woman. Far from it. And I'm okay with that.
So if I end up being induced on March 31st because Sean had to work the day shift that day and it's the only way that he can be with me at the hospital for 2 days-then that's how we're going to do it, I guess. Or I might go in to labor on my own and totally inconvience everybody with my timing. It doesn't really matter.
At some point, I will have this baby. My last baby. And that's all that really matters in the end. :)

I think superwoman is the mom who doesn't strangle their kids after 6 straight days of fighting.... not any of those things you mentioned! and who cares what anyone thinks about how and when you give birth! do what makes sense for your needs. both my girls were born at week 37 1/2... and they were great! I've been enduced with william and I've also let the girls come on their own. but I DID do reflexology to speed things along. it helped me get them out when I knew they were ready. and if you can do without pain meds that's, great! if not?.... that's great too.... good luck with it all!

Good luck! Fingers crossed to a good delivery. Not to worry, I'm not having any more kids either. :(

i laughed when i read your idea of "super woman" because once in a blue moon, i think that's what "super woman" is too. (do we get that from our moromon experience or something else?) anyway, i think "super woman" is a myth because all anyone can do is what is right for them and since we are all unique in our ways, what is right for one person may or may not be right for others. just do you best, give your kids love-- they are lucky to have you! and welcome to the two-kids-only-and-not-feeling-guilty-about-it-club :)
